The Life Changing Shot

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been very busy studying for other classes such as APUSH, Pre-Calc, and practicing my music.  Although I've had a tight schedule, I've been able to work in some time for reading!  I've been able to read for 30 minutes everyday outside of the classroom, and I read around 33 pages every 30 minutes.  The total amount of pages I've read is 400 because I finished one book and was able to start on my AP Classic novel.  I decided to challenge myself by reading a nonfiction book instead of fiction!  The Year We Disappeared by Cylin Busby and John Busby is my nonfiction read I have finished.  This book greatly touches on the idea of never giving up and living life to the fullest.  It had a very clear storyline with simple diction allowing for a fast read!  I was able to easily comprehend each page, and I never had to reread anything.                      In the novel, Cylin and her family receive the news that her pol…

Catching Up With The Catcher in the Rye!

Over the last couple of weeks I've been extremely busy studying for tests and AP exams.  Although I've had a tight schedule, I was able to work some time in for reading.  I've been able to read 35 minutes each day outside of the classroom, and I read around 38 pages every 35 minutes.  I have challenged myself because I read a book from a genre I'm not used to reading which is literary realism, and it is from the AP reading list!  The book I decided to read is The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.  This book was recommended to me by many people!  Although the book did contain much profane language and events, I did find the book to be interesting!
The novel details the story of Holden Caulfield, a 16 year old student who has been kicked out of Pency Prep due to his horrific grades.  After being kicked out, Holden goes to New York and ventures around the city.  He meets many different people, and he starts to observe the world around hi…

In the Twilight Zone

I have definitely made lots of progress on my reading over the weeks in the new semester.  I've been able to read 45 minutes each day outside of the classroom, and I read around 47 pages every 45 minutes.  I have challenged myself because I have been reading a different genre than I'm used to and that is the paranormal romance genre.  I have never really tried to read romance novels, and I am surprisingly enjoying every page.  I can't put it down!  I have been reading The Twilight seriesby Stephenie Meyer, and I have just finished Eclipse!  Throughout the novel, Bella has to face Victoria, who is a vampire that has been wanting to kill her.  She is also debating on whether or not to marry Edward Cullen, her long time boyfriend.  At the same time, however, she has feelings for her best friend, Jacob Black.  I have to admit that I am on Team Edward because he has done so much for Bella! :) 💗               Throughout the novel, Edward and Jacob don't get …

My Life as a Reader!

Hello!  My name is Natasha Prema, and I'm a sophomore at Hebron High School.  I love coming to school everyday, and my favorites hobbies are reading, playing music, and cross stitching!  I started to become a full-time reader when I was in the 8th grade.  Ever since then, I haven't been able to stop!  I was a late bloomer when it came to reading because I had many extracurricular activities along with much homework from other classes.  Now that I've been reading much more frequently, I find myself making many trips to the library.  Reading has definitely allowed me to become a better writer, and it has enabled me to learn lots about the world around me.  I am currently reading New Moon by Stephenie Meyer.  It is such a good book, and I can't put it down!  I'm glad I decided to read it because it has been able to open me up to romance novels!                My goal for this year is to read 20 books.  I also want to read for 45 minutes outside of clas…
